Green Cleaning Products

With the coronavirus (COVID-19) becoming more of an issue worldwide, we all need to do what we can to protect ourselves. One of the easiest ways to do that is to make sure our surroundings are clean. Whether we’re a vegan, or we’re someone conscious about the environment, we won’t want to be using bleach, or one of those other environment-destroying products. “Green” cleaning products are formulated to be safer for plants, animals, and humans alike, without polluting waterways, landfills, or the air we breathe. Here is a list of some of the best green cleaning products on the market.

If you would like to support this site, you can click through the Amazon links to buy one of the products on the list. If you do that, the cost will be the same to you as it would be by going to Amazon via any other route.

Protekt

This is one of my favorite and one of the coolest products on the list! Their cleaning products are made using good bacteria! Instead of using harsh chemicals that are bad for the environment, you are using bacteria that deep clean everything, and then repopulates surfaces with good bacteria, leaving no room for the bad bacteria. It’s completely safe with dogs and children! Their products are highly concentrated, which makes them cheaper than their equivalents on the market! They have many helpful products including, an all-purpose cleaner, a home spray, a hand-sanitizing gel, and much more! You can buy them here.

p.s my explanation of how their products work wasn’t the best, but you can find out more here

p.p.s. All of their products, except for their hand gel, are in stock. The hand gel can be back-ordered for shipment in April.

Greenshield Organics

Greenshield Organics is another great product. They are leaping bunny certified, USDA organic, packaged in recyclable bottles made with sustainable sugarcane! I would especially suggest using them for their laundry detergent. You can buy from their website here and from Amazon here.

Better Life

Better Life is also leaping bunny certified! They don’t use dyes, alcohol, synthetic fragrances, sulfates, or ethoxylates! Their products are cruelty-free, plant-derived, non-toxic, biodegradable, safe for waterways and marine life, and packaged in recyclable containers, and their main manufacturing facility is mostly powered by solar energy! I would suggest using them for their dish soap and dishwasher gel. You can buy them on Amazon here, and from their website here.

EO

EO is USDA organic, leaping bunny certified, certified gluten-free, vegan, and they’re a certified B-corporation. I suggest using them for, hand sanitizers and hand wipes. you can buy them on Amazon here and their website here.

Dr. Bronner’s

Almost all of Dr. Bronner’s products are organic, non-GMO project verified, fair-trade, and vegan. They’re leaping bunny certified! They use 100% post-consumer recycled packaging and have several other environmental programs! You can buy from their website here and Amazon here.

Bon Ami

Bon Ami has been around since the late 1800’s and has always had simple ingredients, plus it’s made in the USA! It is a gentle, all-purpose, deep-cleaning powder for hard surfaces. You just put some on a surface, add a little water to make a paste, and then scrub. You can buy it from Amazon here.

“Traditional” Cleaning Products

They may be called old-fashioned, but what still cleans best, (especially if you use a little muscle power!), and cheapest, with little environmental impact, is vinegar, with or without food-grade hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda. Vinegar is especially good for cleaning windows and glass, while leaving no residue. In a spray bottle, dilute the vinegar 50-50 with water. In a separate spray bottle, dilute food-grade hydrogen peroxide 11 to 1 with water (11 parts water, 1 part H2O2). To clean hard surfaces, spray both of them onto the surface and wipe. If the surface needs scrubbing, use a paste of Bon Ami or baking soda. If you want to repopulate the surface with good bacteria, remember to spray it with Protekt. You can buy vinegar from Amazon here, baking soda here, 35% food-grade hydrogen peroxide here, Bon Ami here, and Protekt here.

Some tips to stay safe from COVID-19

First of all, wash your hands a lot! Wash thoroughly for about 20 seconds. Open doors using a tissue, paper towel, the body of your shirt/sweater/jacket (not the sleeve! You might wipe your nose on it!), or your foot. Wash your hands just before you eat. Wash your hands after you use the bathroom. Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze/cough. Even better, sneeze/cough into a tissue, and immediately throw it away. Wash your hands after you sneeze/cough. If you are sick, stay home. Don’t get other people sick. Give yourself time to recover. Clean your surroundings. Make these a habit and continue practicing this habit for the rest of your life.

I hope this has helped you stay safe and find great new green cleaning products!

p.s. What’s your favorite green cleaning product?
